Whenever I'm sick I nest. You probably know what I mean. When you don't feel well and you just want to hunker down under a blanket on the couch. You start collecting various items all around you so you don't have to move. Then before you know it you're sitting in the middle of a pile of blankets, tissues, and cold medicine. A nest. And let's say you manage to get up enough energy to trek the long way from the couch to the bed, and you fall on the bed but... oh no...you left that packet of throat lozenges back on the disaster zone that was once your coffee table.
Ever had that experience? I have a solution for you. Make yourself a
"Cough & Carry Caddy."
Unfortunately we had to use our caddy this week (feel better Sam) but it does come in handy for those times when you're not feeling well!
From the coffee table to the bed you have all you need!
The perfect caddy will be one with with lots of compartments, but I think any little basket could work. Stock it with cough drops, throat lozenges, nasal decongestant, a thermometer, a pack of tissues, pepto, vapor rub, and whatever you need when you're sick. I even snuck...sneaked?...I hid a little treat, just because life is hard enough when you're sick.
Now all the sickie has to do when shuffling from bed to couch and back again is carry their basket with them and they have all the items they need on hand. (And no mess left in their wake.) Once they're finally feeling better the basket just goes back in the bathroom closet, ready to be pulled out when it is needed again.
And let's be honest. The cute little label on the front is purely for me, and because I like to make things cute. It serves no function whatsoever except it makes me smile. And I guess if something can make you smile when you're sick, maybe it isn't so useless.
Right click the image below to save it to your computer. While I hope no one gets sick, if you do maybe it will be a little easier with your Cough & Carry Caddy!

Why didn't I think of that! No one likes to be sick but if it happens you want things within an arm's reach. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea, especially for kids! I have a perfect caddy that would work for this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart idea! Thanks for sharing! Hope Sam feels better, soon!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea! I think I may make two, one for adults and one for the kiddos. We ALWAYS get sick the same time around here!

ReplyDeleteI so needed this this week! I will be making this for my crew...along with a small trash can!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! when my hubby gets sick....he is the biggest baby wanting me to fetch and carry for him :) this will be a lifesaver. (mine)
ReplyDeleteI've made one too... and it sits at the ready. It is so nice to have!
ReplyDeleteI'm making mine now...thanks for the great idea. Also, I keep a can of chicken noodle soup tucked inside a big "campbells soup" mug in my pantry so when I do get sick, I don't have to make a trip to the store. With this and the caddy, we'll be ready to attack the next cold when it arrives.
ReplyDeleteLiving in a two story home, I started one of these years ago. Last thing you wanna do when sick is climb the stairs. I also add a paper cup for used tissues. I usually use one from a fast food place with a lid. It makes for an easy way to discard them without anyone else having to touch and keeps the icky sickies in one place.
ReplyDeleteStrap a plastic bag to it.... In our house we say, "blow and throw.". That will give them a place for used tissues, instead of ending up on the floor.
