Raffia Flower Wreath

On Wednesday I showed my Fourth of July holiday shelf, including this little wreath I made for $2!  It was really easy and quick, I'm noticing that is a trend with most of the crafts I do.  Nothing complicated here!

The other day I was walking around the dollar store and I grabbed a straw wreath and a bag of raffia.  I didn't know exactly what I was going to make with it but I figured for $2 I could do something.  Once I got home I gathered some ribbon scraps and hot glue and started playing around.

I decided to make a flower using the raffia ribbon.  I cut some strips about 4 inches long and bent them into the shape of a petal.  Using hot glue I attached the petals to a small circle.

The back looked messy, but it's the back...who cares? :)
I did the same thing with the ribbon scraps I had and just used some hot glue to form it into petals on the wreath.

Then I layered the raffia flower on top.  In retrospect I wish I would have filled in the ribbon a little bit more and made the ribbon flower a little fuller.  But all in all I think it turned out pretty cute and I'm happy with it.  I hung it over the top of my mirror using another piece of large ribbon.  Easy peasy!
